In this ever-changing world, at a pace difficult to keep up, we need children from all socioeconomic backgrounds, to learn essential skills for their future by being able to use their hands and their heads.
STEAM is an education initiative which has been in operation around the world for a number of years. It brings together the subjects of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics in a practical way. It enables students by letting their creative minds apply the knowledge they learn in the classrooms to problem solving, developing and designing their ideas, and then building models to test their ideas. STEAM has a key role to play in the new Technology Curriculum being launched in to all schools from year 1 to 13 in 2018.
The Lockit STEAM school workbenches have been designed and manufactured with STEAM in mind. The workbenches are delivered to schools pre-assembled. All you need to do is bolt on the castors, and you are good to go! View the Lockit Junior 690 and Senior 890 here.
Lockit recommends New Zealand owned and operated, Mitre 10 to supply the tools for the Lockit STEAM school workbenches. If you already have a trade account, you can order the list of tools directly from your local Mitre 10 store for collection or delivery directly to your school at the same time the workbench is dispatched to you.
We would encourage, if you are not already a customer of Mitre 10, to open an account with your local store to receive a great range of discounts across the store and get access to the trade online purchasing facility.
